Le groupe compos\u00e9 des fr\u00e8res Brad (voix\/guitare) et Andrew (batterie), de la harpiste Sarah Pag\u00e9 et du pianiste et bassiste Andr\u00e8s Vial, a enregistr\u00e9 40 pistes diff\u00e9rentes lors du processus de conception de l\u2019album. Treize d\u2019entre elles se sont retrouv\u00e9es sur Sleeping Operator, chansons \u00e0 la fois m\u00e9ditatives et explosives, explorant les larges possibilit\u00e9s du genre folk, le tout tress\u00e9 d\u2019influences sud-africaines et de pulsions modernistes hypnotisantes. Bien que l\u2019album s\u2019aventure vers diff\u00e9rents territoires et fait voyager l\u2019auditeur dans un monde parfois cin\u00e9matographique, le sentiment d\u2019intimit\u00e9 reste toujours bel et bien pr\u00e9sent, telle une soir\u00e9e remplie d\u2019histoire racont\u00e9e autour d\u2019un feu de camp.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u2018Sleeping Operator<\/i> a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9 par les Barr Brothers et a \u00e9t\u00e9 enregistr\u00e9 et mix\u00e9 \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al et \u00e0 Los Angeles par Ryan Freeland (Bonnie Raitt, Aimee Mann, Ray Lamontagne). Le groupe a \u00e9galement re\u00e7u plusieurs amis musiciens en studio, dont Richard Reed Parry d\u2019Arcade Fire, des membres du groupe Patrick Watson et Bassekou Kouyate, The Luyas et Little Scream. Connus pour leurs orchestrations uniques, les Barr Brothers ont utilis\u00e9 pl\u00e9thore d\u2019instruments afin de cr\u00e9er ce son sui generis; cors fran\u00e7ais, marimba, ngoni (instrument \u00e0 cordes de l\u2019Afrique de l\u2019Ouest).
