Huit ans apr\u00e8s leur premier album Parc Avenue (2008), le nouvel album du groupe montr\u00e9alais Plants and Animals, Waltzed in from the Rumbling, paraitra le 29 avril prochain sur Secret City Records. <\/p>\n

Enregistr\u00e9 de la m\u00eame fa\u00e7on que le premier \u2013 de fa\u00e7on analogue – ce nouvel album incarne le caract\u00e8re brut et authentique de leur musique, tout en injectant quelques crescendos symphoniques, balades lyriques, et d\u00e9veloppement m\u00e9tamorphiques. Il s\u2019agit du recueil musical le plus profond et inventif qu\u2019ait propos\u00e9 Plants and Animals \u00e0 ce jour. 11 pi\u00e8ces pleines de bonds en avant, de bateaux qui passent, d\u2019eaux sombres et de ciels roses.<\/p>\n

Depuis leur plus r\u00e9cent album, The End of That (2012), les membres de Plants and Animals ont fond\u00e9 des familles et ont pris le temps de vivre. Se d\u00e9barrassant volontairement de la contrainte temporelle de leur processus, le groupe a cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 reconnecter avec l\u2019honn\u00eatet\u00e9 et l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance que l\u2019on retrouve dans la musique cr\u00e9\u00e9e sans aucune pression. \u00ab \u00c7a ressemblait plus \u00e0 un studio d\u2019artiste qu\u2019\u00e0 une salle d\u2019enregistrement \u00bb, explique Warren Spicer. \u00ab Le bordel, les bouts de chansons partout\u2026 On avait une \u00e9norme toile, et on n\u2019arr\u00eatait pas de remplir les coins, d\u2019effacer, de repeindre des bouts, de reculer pour contempler l\u2019ensemble, voir ce qu\u2019on avait \u00bb. Les culminantes progressions que l\u2019on retrouve dans chaque chanson sont repr\u00e9sentatives du temps que cela a pris pour \u00e9crire l\u2019album. Bien plus qu\u2019un simple et unique cadre, il ouvre sur l\u2019horizon. Bien plus qu\u2019un certain regard, cet album propose une vision.<\/p>\n

Les influences sont vastes et diverses sur Waltzed in from the Rumbling : le soul bris\u00e9 de Van Morrison, la g\u00e9om\u00e9trie oblique de J Dilla, le funk sombre de Gainsbourg, le feu du John Coltrane Quartet, la synesth\u00e9sie de Messiaen, les bizarreries d\u2019Angelo Badalamenti. Du Plants and Animals grand ouvert avec de l\u2019espace pour bouger.<\/p>\n

Le premier single \u00ab Stay \u00bb illustre le large spectre orchestral que Plants and Animals a su d\u00e9ployer, tout en canalisant les racines terreuses folk, caract\u00e9ristiques de Parc Avenue. Le morceau s\u2019ouvre avec des paroles teint\u00e9es de folk acoustique rappelant les pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents albums.
